Anyway we cut it, the Canadian Seed-funding gap is large, but our research concludes the correct approach is to inject 64% of new Series A capital at Seed plus $26M per year for Toronto-Waterloo. These injections of Seed capital shall be structured in order to address the main Seed-funding gaps: ● Increasing the number of seed-funded startups, which in practice means increasing the number of pre-seed rounds ● Increasing the size of seed rounds, especially for top startups – and even more so for AI-Native startups – while supporting a shorter average fundraising time for Canadian startups.
