Angel Groups and Angel Funds Working Together RESOURCES

In early 2019, information, education, and community consultation sessions set the stage for Angel investment in Yukon, including the establishment of an Angel Group and an Angel Fund. According to the feedback received during these sessions, the development of the early-stage Angel investing asset-class in Yukon is timely.

Angel Groups and Angel Funds support small- and medium-sized business development in different ways. Individual Angels can belong to both or either an Angel Group or an Angel Fund.

Group of like-minded accredited investors.

Networks of like-minded investors built on the pooling of capital and risk through a formal fund structure.

A community built on social networks of trust.

Provides greater portfolio diversification to investors than an Angel Group.

Leverage the power of numbers to share best practices, deal- flow, and collaborate on investments.

Lower barrier to entry for new or learning investors than an Angel Group.

Focused on investing capital, networks, and mentorship to support local entrepreneurs with growth potential.

A more formal way of collaborating on deal-flow and investments, as well as post-investment responsibilities than an Angel Group. Able tomake follow-on investments and larger investments than Angel Groups into selected companies to support stages of growth.

Volunteer team effort - sharing the workload of sourcing, selecting, and supporting companies.

Investor members typically make individual investment decisions.

Investment decisions are made together as a group.
