Angels made smaller investments in 2020. The mean size of investment was $233,000, a lower figure than in any of the previous five years. There was a 28% decrease in the mean size of investment compared to 2019 when it was $325,784. How- ever, as Figure 12 shows, with the exception of 2019, the average size of investment has declined in each year since 2015, suggesting that the further decline in 2020 is not nec- essarily COVID-related. More re- search is required to determine the cause of this decline.
