Twenty-four organizations reported full information on the number of compa- nies at each stage in the investment funnel. Of the more than 6,500 busi- nesses that approached these organi- zations, 22% were selected for presen- tation to investors. Angels undertook due diligence on 34% of these busi- nesses. Angels invested in 86% of the businesses that reached the due dili- gence stage. This represents 6% of the businesses that initially approached these organizations for funding. We an- ticipate that this increase stems from a larger number of new investments made in 2020, compared to 2019, and continuing improvements in the ability to efficiently screen online applications received by angel organizations.
