A ngel investors are predominantly men. However, the proportion of women who are members of angel organizations is increasing. Women comprised 24% of the members of Canadian angel organizations in 2020, a significant increase over previous years (17% in 2019 and 2018 and 14% in 2017) (Figure 6). As far as can be discerned from the available evidence, the propor- tion of angel investors in Canada who are women is not out of line with international comparisons. Of the 20 or-
ganizations that provided information, 19 reported hav- ing women investors, with the proportion ranging from 1% to 89% with a median of 14.5%. Three organizations each have more than 75% of members who are women. The proportion of women investors in each region is as follows: Central 18.8%; Atlantic 5.0%; Western 44.8%, with the high percentage in the West reflecting the lo- cation of the three organizations where the majority of members were women.
