On the other hand, the total amount invested by responding angel organizations - $102.9 million – was lower than in both 2019 and 2018 ($163.9 million and $142.8 million, respectively). It should be noted that an- gel organizations often invest alongside other investors, so the overall amounts raised by the businesses may be much larger. The mean amount invested by angel or- ganizations in 2020 was also lower than in 2019 ($4.3 million vs $7.1 million), although the median amount increased ($2.1 million vs $1.7 million). This suggests that the larger angel organizations cut back on the amount they invested to a greater extent than the smaller organizations.
