D espite the widespread concerns in the months following the onset of the pandemic that it would result in a collapse in angel investing, with adverse con- sequences for entrepreneurial activity, this did not oc- cur. However, the picture is complicated. Angel organi-
zations made 416 investments in 2020 compared with 299 in 2019, a 39% increase (Table 2). Nevertheless, this was a lower figure than in 2018. The average (mean) and the median number of investments made by angel orga- nizations in 2020 was also higher than in 2019.
