Angel organizations reported that following the initial shock of COVID-19, the number of startups pitching to their members has increased, and as a consequence, they are actively viewing more deals. Several organi- zations commented that the quality and quantity of investment opportunities had increased. There was widespread concern that valuations had increased, driven by an increase in competition for deals from other investors. Angel organizations made a strong case for the con- tinuation of the existing support that the government provides to structured angel activity and the tax in- centives that some provinces offer to investors on ac- count of the critical role that angel investors play in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, supporting early-stage high-risk ventures with finance and expertise.
