In previous years, Central Cana- da’s larger total annual investment amount in the ecosystem was a function, not just of its greater number of investments, but also on account of its higher mean size of investment. However, regional dif- ferences in the mean size of invest- ment were much narrower in 2020, with little difference in the average deal sizes in Central Canada and Western Canada ($256,000 and $222,000 respectively), although Atlantic Canada continued to have a much smaller average deal size ($134,000) (Figure 22).
