Gender of Organization Membership 2.6

91

T he majority of angel investors continue to be men. However, the proportion of women who are mem- bers of angel organizations has been increasing year- over-year since this information was first collected in 2017 (Figure 6), with women accounting for 27% of the members of angel organizations in 2021, up from 24% in 2020. It should be noted that this is based on a smaller number of organizations (13) reporting gender data than in previous years. In Western Europe, women angel in- vestors account for about 11% of the population while in the USA women angel investors composed 29.5% of the angel market. 7 Within Canadian angel organizations,

the proportion of women members ranged from 4% to 100% with a median of 14.7%. Two organizations had more than 75% of members who are women, one based in Western Canada and the other in Central Canada.
