T he story of Picketa Systems started in the rural New Brunswick potato farming region that has sup- plied McCain Foods with potatoes for generations. Four childhood friends, Xavier, Dominique, Max and Zach, each with a passion for engineering, grew up in this community and dreamed of making their mark on the world. Now these four engineers have returned home as entrepreneurs to apply their imagination, innovation and engineering know-how to precision agriculture im- pact through optimal fertilizer application.
When they finished university and went out into the fields that they picked potatoes from as school boys, they imagined a difference that if in the hands of every farmer, like the four generations of farmers that worked the land before Dominique, Picketa's CTO, was a solu- tion build for farmers with global impact - a way to ac- curately measure crop nutrient concentrations to track and adjust fertilizers for maximum yield potential.
