Mary Long-Irwin is Executive Director of Northern Ontario Angels, one of the top- performing Angel groups in Canada. Prior to this, she was CEO of the Chamber of Commerce, and previous to that, for 10 years she was responsible for providing small business loans in northern communities. She was born, raised and educated in Thunder Bay and remains a strong advocate for business and industry. Dr. Andrew Maxwell is Professor of Entrepreneurial Engineering at Lassonde School of Engineering, York University, and Chief Innovation Officer at the Canadian Innovation Centre. He combines practice (helping tens of technology entrepreneurs raise millions of dollars) and research (his PhD on Angel Decision Making won the Academy of Management’s 2012 Heizer Award for the top PhD). Dr. Dave Valliere is Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Strategy at Ryerson University. His research interests include culture and cognitive psychology in entrepreneurs and investors, information signalling in early-stage capital markets, and the economic and public-policy functions of entrepreneurship. Bryan Watson is a partner at Flow Ventures, Managing Director of Clean Tech North, and Director of Strategic Projects at INcubes (a Toronto incubator). He was formerly Executive Director of the National Angel Capital Organization (NACO) and Angel Investors Ontario. Dr. Sean Wise is Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Strategy at Ryerson University. He is the Executive Director of the Ryerson Angel Network and a general partner at Ryerson Futures, a seed fund and accelerator located on campus. Companies in his portfolio have raised more than $2 million through crowdfunding. He received Startup Canada’s 2014 Mentor of the Year award.
