IRegained: Standing United in Our Dreams to Help Stroke Patients Reclaim Their Lives

I regained is a MedTech company based in the City of Sudbury, Ontario that is developing novel solutions for the physical rehabilitation needs of people with dis- ability. With a mission to help 100 million stroke survi- vors with hand function disability from brain injury, IRe- gained has developed the MyHand TM System. In 2013, while working on his PhD, Founder and CEO Vineet Johnson moved to Thunder Bay for a full-time research position in Lakehead University's kinesiolo- gy department where he met Daniel Vasiliu and where they started to build out their first MyHand TM System
with supplies from a local dollar store. They were able to conduct a small clinical pilot study with the Northwest- ern Ontario Regional Stroke Network, the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, and several others to help fund them. The study in 2016 saw eight people us- ing the device for six weeks. Johnson remembers one woman who regained the ability to write and knew he was onto something truly disruptive.
