affected by differences in the number of angel organiza- tions reporting their investment activity. This reflects both the creation of new angel organizations and also differ- ences in the angel organizations that provide data each year. These effects can be controlled by only consider- ing those organizations that reported their investments in 2021 and 2022 (see Table 2 columns 3 and 4). This anal- ysis confirms the decline in angel investment activity in 2022. These angel organizations collectively made fewer investments (-17%), and invested less (-32%), the average number of investments made by angel organizations de- clined (-15%) and the average amount invested per com- pany also fell (-16%).
